Cigarettes flavours
Nowadays cigarette market is overflowed with various cigarette brands, and besides the fact that every pack warns about harm of smoking, this industry still flourishes and develops new technologies to meet each smoker’s taste. One of the novelties at the cigarette market is rich assortment of flavoured cigarettes.
History of flavored cigarettes dates back to 1930 year, when menthol cigarettes were developed to help smokers continue smoking, when they caught a cold or had a cough. Later, Philip Morris, the prominent and the largest producer of tobacco products, created a new menthol cigarette brand Alpine, which was aimed to females. Since then, during several decades, they were called female cigarettes due to the mild taste and fancy style.
Recently other cigarette flavours appeared on the market. All of them induce just a background taste, which helps to weaken the harshness of cigarette smoke. Usually, it is a pellet embedded in the filter of a cigarette with a certain flavour that causes a magnificent fragrance. This pellet dissolves, triggering the flavour essences vaporization, while smoker is inhaling.
Another common flavor is confectionary one. The technology of its production is the same as menthol cigarettes has. Nowadays, there are a lot of other flavors, such as chocolate, apple, cherry, orange mint, lime, mango, peach, apricot, banana and other fruit and candy flavours. These cigarettes are advertised as less harmful for the health. Nevertheless, if to regard this closely, they smooth the harshness of smoke, allowing smoker to inhale more, that leads to more nicotine intake.
Generally, flavored cigarettes are targeted to the youth, who are attracted by bright and stylish packing that usually resembles lip gloss or candies. Moreover, these covers do not include any warning information about content of hazardous substances and are highly addictive, that misleads younger smokers. Colorful and fancy cover, fresh taste - all these entice the youth and promote smoking among them. This decreases the average age of smokers that becomes a problem of the whole nation. On the one hand, tobacco advertising is banned, on the other hand, cigarettes smoking is promoted among youngsters in such a veil way. Moreover, this situation is worsened by the fact, that majority of parents even do not know about existence of such flavoured cigarettes and other tobacco products, such as flavoured drops, rolling papers and flovoured chewing tobacco.
Nowadays, the government is working on this issue and soon these products will be either illegalized, or sold with warnings at the pack of them.
